Timeless Biblical Truth.

Believers who are loyal to the LORD and separate themselves from evil may pray with confidence that He will vindicate them and redeem then from a common fate with the wicked.

  1. Believers who are facing serious opposition and are righteous may appeal to God to vindicate them (1-2).
  2. Believers who pray for vindication must demonstrate their loyalty to the LORD (3-9).
    1. Believers demonstrate their loyalty to the LORD by separating themselves from participating in evil (3-5).
    2. Believers demonstrate their loyalty to the LORD in proper worship in the LORD’S house (6-8).
  3. Loyal believers may pray with confidence and praise that they will be spared when the LORD judges the wicked (9-12).
“Let us pray, with our whole hearts, for mercy; and if the answer to our prayers be tardy, because we have deeply transgressed, let us knock; for to him that knocks it shall be opened when prayers, groans, and tears beat at the door.”

St. Cyprian (ca 200-258 A.D.)
