Questions for Second Milers
- First, read the psalm as a poem celebrating the marriage of a Hebrew king to a foreign princess. By thoughtfully reading the psalm aloud try to capture what the psalmist sees and feels. Then read the psalm again as a song of praise to Christ which is how the early church applied this psalm (cf. Heb 1:8-9).
- How is the king described? How does that description make you think and feel about him?
- How is the bride described?
- What is the bride asked to do?
- Given that the church is the bride of Christ (Rev21:9; 2 Cor 11:2; Eph 5:23-32), what beauty would the king see and desire in you?
- Use this psalm in your prayer life to praise Jesus Christ.
- Give your own short title to this psalm.
