Timeless Biblical Truth.
The LORD is worthy to be praised because, having defeated His enemies, He preserves His presence with His people and guides them throughout life by His faithful love and righteousness.
- Everyone is to praise God greatly for His presence among them in His city. (1-3).
- Believers praise God greatly in His holy sanctuary (1).
- God’s presence in His city is the joy of the whole earth (2).
- God’s presence makes His city safe and secure (3).
- Believers praise God for His victories in defending His dwelling place and making it His dwelling place forever (4-8).
- God has powerfully protected His holy place from enemies (4-7).

- Believers praise God everywhere because by His righteous faithfulness to preserves His eternal dwelling among His people and whom He guides throughout life (9-14).
- God’s faithful love and righteousness is worthy of universal praise (9-10).
- Believers should rejoice as they consider the security of the holy city and tell others about it (11-13).
- Believers exalt in their God and rejoice in His eternal guidance (14).

- What is the focus of praise in this psalm?
- What are the characteristics of Zion, the city of God that the psalmist states. Do these characteristics make this city attractive to you? Which ones?
- According to the psalmist what specifically has God done for His city? How are the city and God related in the people’s mind? Is there anything in this city that you know of that reflects the presence of God in its everyday life?
- What exactly have the people heard and seen?
- What specifically have you seen of God’s majesty? When was the last time you rejoiced in His presence with you? What does praising God for His presence done for you?
- What request does the psalmist make of all the people? Is it reasonable? Why?
- Believers are to tell others about the greatness of God. What about God do/can you convey to those around you?
- Give your own short title to this psalm that will help you to remember its contents.
