Faithful and obedient believers may pray with confidence that YHWH will deliver them from the deceitful and malicious attacks of the wicked because their God hates wickedness.
- Request: Faithful and obedient believers may confidently petition YHWH to hear and answer their most earnest prayers (1-3).
- They may earnestly petition their sovereign YHWH (1-2).
- They confess their faith and confidently watch for YHWH’s answer (3).
- Reason: Faithful and obedient believers confess their faith because YHWH hates wickedness and is in covenant relationship to them (4-7).
- YHWH’s nature. YHWH hates wickedness (4-6).
- YHWH’s covenant. They are in covenantal relationship to YHWH and thus may worship Him in His sanctuary (7).
- Results: Faithful and obedient believers may anticipate YHWH’s guidance and a joyful deliverance from their enemies whom He judges (8-10).
- They petition YHWH for His guidance from the wicked (8-9).
- They pray that the deceitfulness of their enemies will bring down on them YHWH’s judgment [and their deliverance] (10).
- Request: Faithful and obedient believers ask YHWH to let them rejoice in His deliverance and grace (11-12).
