Because God’s Word and His caring protection for His people, believers confidently trust Him and do not fear what their enemies may do to them.
- In times of oppression, believers confidently and without fear express their trust in God to deliver them from their enemies (1-7).
- When being attacked, believers need God’s protection (1-2).
- When being attacked, believers confidently trust in God’s Word (3-4).
- Believers may tell God what their enemies are doing (5-6).
- Believer pray for God’s justice on their enemies (7).
- Believers both (i) confidently trust in God and His Word because He knows them and cares, and (ii) vow to praise Him for His de- liverance so that they might live longer in His favor (8-13).
- Believers know that God knows them and cares (8-9).
- Believers do not fear evil people nor what they can do to them because they confidently trust in God and His Word (10-11).
- Believers vow to praise God for His deliverance so that they may live longer in His favor (12-13).

- Using some sanctified imagination, picture the scene of verses 1-6 using 1 Sam 21:10-22:1 as a historical background.
- Have you even been in such a position? When was it? Did you feel any tension between your fear in the situation and your faith in God ?
- How does the imagery David depict God’s intimate concern for him? Do you find comfort and strength in knowing that God has such a concern for you?
- How does David express his response to God’s concern for him?
