Believers who are suffering persecution may confidently pray to the LORD, their Deliverer, to rescue them from people who seek to ruin them.

  1. Believers who suffer may cry to God for help (1).
  2. Believers who suffer may pray that God remove their enemies (2-3).
  3. Believers who suffer will desire that the LORD be honored and praised (4).
  4. Believers who suffer may depend on the LORD for help and deliverance (5).

  1. Compare and contrast Psalm 70 with Psalm 40:13-17. Why was Psalm 70 made into a separate psalm?
  2. What is the basis of David’s appeal to God for himself? his enemies?
  3. Why is there such urgency expressed in this psalm?
  4. To what extent are your desires centered in seeking and loving God?
  5. What recent experiences have caused you to say, “God is great!”
