Psalm 77 A Timeless Biblical Truth of Psalm 77 When believers meditate on the LORD’S power and love, seen in when He delivered them, they will exchange their complaints for praise and find their faith in Him reassured.
- When believers feel that God has abandoned them, they will find that when they pray earnestly to God He will comfort them (1-9).
- In times of trouble, believers need to pray earnestly to God to find comfort (1-3).
- Believers may find that their anguish feels greater when they compare their present pain to better days in the past (4-6).
- Believers may be tempted to think that the LORD is withholding His love from them (7-9).
- In these episodes of suffering, believers can restore their faith in the LORD by meditating on His uniqueness and His great works of redemption (10-20).
- Believers must remember God’s incomparable deeds (10-12).
- Believers must focus on God’s perfections (13-15).
- Believers must remember His great works of redemption (16-20).

- What appears to be the psalmist’s problem? Why?
- To what extent can you identify with how the psalmist feels?
- What does the psalmist remember? Why does this memory add to his grief? What will bring him out of his spiritual blues?
- What single event does the psalmist use to exemplify God’s graciousness (cf. Ex 13-15)?
- How does nature react to God? Contrast the way nature responds to God to how human’s respond? What makes the difference?
- How do you recover from spiritual blues?
