Believers are to confess to their children of their sins and how God disciplined them so that their children may not sin against the LORD as they did; further, they are to teach them of God’s works of grace and compassion so that their children might be faithful and obey the LORD.
- Believers are to hand down to their children what God has done so that they will be faithful to Him (1-8).
- Believers must relate to their children how God has worked in the past (1-4).
- Believers must preserve their heritage of faith so that their children will obey God (5-8).
- Believers will teach their children how frequently the LORD forgave their rebellious acts and did marvelous things for them (9-55).
- Believers will confess to their children that they were often unfaithful to God’s covenant with them (9-11).
- Believers will confess to their children how God graciously provided for their needs despite their rebellion (12-31).
- Believers will confess to their children that God forgave them even when they insincerely sought Him (32-39).
- Believers will tell their children of the great works that God has done for them even when they were rebellious (40-55).
- Believers must tell their children how God raises up faithful leaders to guide them when they are disobedient (56-72).
- Believers are to confess to their children how their sins brought on themselves God’s discipline (56-66).
- Believers are to relate to their children that God raises up faithful leaders to lead them in obedience to His covenant (67-72).
